The Requirements

The quality of fish abundance in the drilling location is one of the regulations from Indonesia Government that should be reported by offshore oil and gas company in order to comply the Ministry of Environment Decree No. 132 Year 2013 Indonesia.

BMT assisted its client to undertake the fish abundance study at Tongkol Well, South East Mahakam. In addition, sea water monitoring were also conducted to collect the oceanography data supporting the study.

What We Delivered

Our services in this project were comprised of two main different activities: identifying the fish species and its abundance and also analyzing the data based on sampling observation. We also conducted the assessment of ecological elements such as defining the vulnerable species, protected species, etc.

BMT took samples using the scientific echosounder for studying the abundance of the fish. It is also be possible to locate fish school, monitoring their movement, estimate the number of fish, and can determine the species.

There were five main data analysis for this study : abundance, diversity, similarity, dominance, and species richness.
